Flowers against the sky

During 2007/08, the NHS Confederation worked on behalf of the whole NHS to bring the management perspective into the public debate, set the policy agenda, influence the development of government policy and promote excellence in the interests of the public, patients and staff. And we continued to develop the organisation to meet the distinct needs of the parts of the NHS.

The following is an at-a-glance breakdown of our work in 2007/08:

  • 6 evidence sessions briefing parliamentary committees
  • 15 written briefings for parliamentarians
  • 20 publications relevant to the whole NHS, including ten reports and nine briefings
  • 100 meetings with ministers, senior civil servants, special advisers and opposition spokespeople
  • 154 media releases and features
  • 300 people attended our 2007 Christmas reception
  • 793 mentions in the media (609 trade, 105 national, 79 regional)
  • 1076 media enquiries
  • 2000 members subscribe to our daily press summaries keeping them up-to-date on health in the media
  • 3000 people attended our annual conference
  • 6000 members subscribe to our weekly Interchange Alert e-bulletin, more than double the previous year's figure, providing the latest news, views and ways to get involved in our collective work programme
  • We won Public Affairs Trade Body of the Year 2007.
