Spotting and responding to key innovations
This session will focus on changes and innovations that could redefine how significant parts of the NHS work. 'Disruptive' innovations can come from unexpected sources - eg the evolution of the personal computer or the unanticipated adaptation of technologies used for other purposes. Presentations will cover topics such as:
* What can we learn from the past? Which innovations worked, and which didn't?
* What did come from left field and make a major difference? What innovations are coming down the track? How should we prepare ourselves and our organisations for them?
Day and time: Wednesday 16:00-17:30
Format: Discussion
Of interest to: All sectors
Speakers: Paul Hodgkin(Chief Executive, Patient Opinion), Further speakers TBC
Take control, money is power
Choice is about control and empowerment for individuals. Personalised budgets are widely used in social care - how can health service professionals empower their service users and patients to have increased control and improve their health outcomes? This session will look at the implications for using self-directed care more widely in the health service.
Day and time: Thursday 09:00-10:30
Format: Chalk and talk
Of interest to: Mental health, primary care, independent and third sector
Building integrated care: new models of care
The division between primary and secondary care services is largely historical and does not reflect the ways that patients use services. Vertical integration has the potential to redesign services around pathways of care. This session will explore the potential for moving both 'up' (from primary into secondary care) and 'down' the supply chain (from secondary into primary care).
Day and time: Friday 09:00-10:15
Of interest to: All sectors
Format: Networking
Speaker: Richard Lewis (Ernst and Young)
