The moral compass is a series of seminars designed to explore some of the difficult ethical dilemmas and issues that confront those working in the health service today. Held in central London, these events engage members, journalists, politicians and the policy community.
Next month, we are hosting the third debate in the series. When is it time to stop? will ask when a patient's quality of life is poor, who decides when it might be best to stop treatment? What should we be saying to the public about the limits of medicine, what do we say to patients and how do staff deal with these difficult conversations? Nigel Edwards, our policy director, will chair the discussion and our panel will include Dr Vivienne Nathanson from the BMA.
The event will be held from 6.00pm till 7.30pm on 5th of September 2007 and will be followed by a drinks reception. For more information about this event please email rebecca.cotton@nhsconfed.org or call 020 7074 3311.
