Sharing the learning from the vanguard programme

Vanguard animation 800 x 400
We're working with NHS Clinical Commissioners, NHS Providers and the Local Government Association to help spread the learning from the vanguard programme across the health and care sector.

Together, we aim to create greater understanding, involvement and ownership of the vanguard vision, showcasing new ways health and care economies can help establish a sustainable health service now and in the future.

31 January 2018 - New care models: What can we learn and the journey into accountable care

There are valuable lessons to be learned from the 50 vanguard sites that have been developing and delivering new models of care over the last two years - in particular, for sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs) and accountable care systems.

This event offers insight into the outcomes and lessons from the vanguards, and considers how they can contribute to the journey to accountable care. The programme includes:

  • a showcase of projects, lessons and outcomes from a range of vanguards insight into the next steps for new care models in the context of STPs and accountable care systems
  • what STPs and accountable care systems can learn from the challenges experienced by the vanguards effective leadership to achieve transformation across complex, system-level health and care systems.

The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre. There is likely to be high demand for this event, therefore spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and we will seek to ensure representation from across NHS trusts, CCGs and local government. Please note that we can only accept one delegate per organisation.

New models of care site visits

Health and care leaders have the opportunity to see first-hand how vanguards are delivering new models of care and implementing innovative transformation programmes as part of an exciting series of site visits. Led by those involved in leading and developing the vanguards, the visits will involve a tour of local services, allowing delegates to see change in action for themselves.

8 February 2018 – Tower Hamlets Together

Join senior leaders from partnership organisations across Tower Hamlets to hear about their work to develop primary care networks and move towards longer term primary care sustainability, as well as developing accountable care arrangements in the borough and across the STP.

26 February 2018 –  Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership

Learn the unique transformation taking place in Greater Manchester as a result of devolution. This visit provides the opportunity to understand more about Greater Manchester's whole systems approach by showcasing how integrated and place-based partnership working is happening in practice. Gain practical insight into how local partners – particularly the NHS and local authorities – have overcome the barriers that have historically precluded partnership working.

The sessions will run from 10.30am to 4.00pm.  To book your place, email: Ben Augustine
