This exclusive webinar is tailored for mental health leaders to learn about ideas, learnings and impact from pilot sites who have participated in the initial stage of the Mental Health Act Quality Improvement programme

We will share actionable insight from this first-of-its-kind programme which has been supporting 15 inpatient services, that provide care for people detained under the Mental Health Act, to develop and implement co-produced change ideas that put into practice the principles set out in reform of the Act.

This webinar is being co-hosted by the Mental Health Network, The PSC, and the Virginia Mason Institute.

Background

In 2021, the Government published a White Paper, Reforming the Mental Health Act, which accepted many of the recommendations from the 2018 Independent Review of the Mental Health Act and set out a series of ambitious reforms to care under the Act. To support these improvements, one of the recommendations taken forward in the White Paper was a commitment for NHS England to deliver a national Quality Improvement (QI) programme.

Between August 2023 and March 2025, this QI programme will go to support approximately 40 more inpatient services to develop and implement co-produced change ideas that put into practice the principles set out in reform of the Act - tackling inequity of experience faced by groups experiencing significant inequalities under the Mental Health Act.
