In partnership with the WRES team at NHS England, we are holding a series of events for chairs and chief executives across the country designed to initiate and progress a discussion on workforce race equality within the NHS.
Led by Andrea Young, chief executive of North Bristol NHS Trust, the roundtable will provide senior leaders with a comprehensive briefing and information to take forward work on this challenging agenda for an inclusive NHS. This will include examples of best practice and details of the support available from NHS England.
Implementing the workforce race equality standard (WRES) is a requirement for NHS commissioners and NHS healthcare providers including independent organisations, through the NHS standard contract.
The evidence is clear that workforce race equality is critical to patient care, safety and outcomes and that it also leads to the efficient running of the NHS. The evidence is also clear that success in this area is dependent on demonstrable and committed leadership.
