EU policies and their implications for NHS employers NHS Employers annual conference
The NHS European Office and the NHS Employers European and International Team will be jointly hosting a session at the NHS Employers annual conference "Leading workforce thinking" on 5 November 2008. The session will give an overview of recent and forthcoming developments including the Working Time Directive, cross-border healthcare, EU work on health workforce planning and possible legislation on sharps injuries, with a view to helping participants understand what the practical implications are likely to be for them and their staff. The NHS European Office Reception at the European Parliament
High-level representatives of the NHS and senior delegates from the EU institutions met in Brussels on Wednesday 10 September at the official launch of the NHS European Office.
The event included a Reception in the European Parliament hosted by a cross-party group of MEPs with speeches from NHS Confederation Chair Bryan Stoten, Member of the European Parliament Linda McAvan and Robert Madelin, Director General for Health and Consumers in the European Commission. As well as promoting the Office and its work to the wider Brussels community, the event presented an opportunity for NHS colleagues and EU decision-makers to discuss EU developments across a range of policy areas impacting on the NHS.
