In September 2008 the Ambulance Service Network responded to the Department of Health's consultation on a national dementia strategy.
In summary
Our response sets out our views that we would welcome recognition in the Strategy that ambulance services are involved in the care and support of patients with dementia. Services attend to patients with dementia on a daily basis.
Ambulance services are also contributing to the key outcomes the Government would like to achieve via the strategy:
- Improved awareness
- Early diagnosis and intervention
- High quality care and support
- Delivering the national dementia strategy framework.
