The Board of Trustees is accountable both in charity and company law for the management of the NHS Confederation. The Trustees have the full legal responsibility for the overall management and decision making of the Charity and are also responsible for the direction and performance of the organisation.
Each of the Networks, NHS Employers and Wales and Northern Ireland also have their own boards as part of the overall governance arrangements.
Members are elected from the Council and serve of the Board of Trustees for a period of three years and are eligible for re-election.
The board numbers no more than 14 and is comprised of the honorary officers, one representative from Northern Ireland and Wales and other members elected from the Council.
The chairs of the Network Boards are co-opted members of the Board of Trustees.
