Council of members

The NHS Confederation Council of Members is part of the overall governance arrangements and its main role is to act as a sounding board and a source of advice on the key policy and campaigning issues that affect the whole of the NHS. Council meets four times a year and receives regular reports to capture NHS-wide priorities.

Council members are elected from member organisations in each SHA patch along with representatives from the Networks, NHS Employers' policy board, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Guernsey, and from representatives of the BME and Independent Sector Forums. Members are elected for an initial period of three years which can be extended for a further period of three years.
