This paper examines a pioneering approach to the provision of integrated healthcare through public-private partnership; the Alzira model from the region of Valencia, Spain.
The Alzira model was the subject of an NHS Confederation sudy visit in March 2011 to see first-hand its evolution, integration of clinical and business models, documented outcomes, and political, economic and societal impact on healthcare in Spain. This paper is a report from that visit, and examines the aims and components of the model in light of the current challemges facing the NHS in England.
