'Public Health: Responding to the health white paper and looking to the future', was attended by representatives from the NHS Confederation, local government and public health organisations including the Association of Directors of Public Health, the Faculty of Public health, Association of public health observatories and the Royal Society for Public health. The seminar focused on responding to changes proposed to the public health system in the health white paper, the future of public health and also the public health white paper. The seminar was chaired by Nigel Edwards, acting chief executive, NHS Confederation. Delegates heard presentations from Mike Grady from the Marmot Team and Bobbie Jacobson from the London Public Health Observatory. During the event, delegates discussed the implications for public health and agreed key principles for public health reform.
The NHS Confederation has written up the agreed principles for public health reform based on the discussions and views shared on the day. The agreed principles will contribute towards the NHS Confederation’s work around influencing the development of the public health white paper that we have recently responded to.
