The workshop provided an opportunity for PCT colleagues to discuss their response to the economic recession in a confidential forum.
Elizabeth Wade, senior policy manager, PCT Network opened the day with a presentation that outlined the network’s forecast on what the economic impact for its members may be and what work we can do together around this issue. Delegates were then divided into groups during the day and encouraged to work together to share practical ideas and examples of work their organisations may already be doing to understand, prepare for and respond to the impact of the recession. Groups were also asked to identify ways PCTs can work together to maximise their resilience and ensure the NHS responds as effectively as possible to the economic downturn. At the end of the day, groups came together to share their ideas and suggestions.
David Stout, director, PCT Network and Nigel Edwards, director of policy and communications, NHS Confederation joined the debate along with other members of the PCTN policy team.
Feedback and suggestions from this workshop will be fed back to the PCTN team and the wider Confederation and help to shape our ongoing work programme and priorities.
