Macmillan Cancer Support is looking to partner with a small number of PCTs and providers to improve the system of care for people living with cancer. With two million people living with cancer today and the figure predicted to double by 2030, the organisation is launching ‘Preparing for the Four Million’, a programme which it says aims to ensure that people affected by cancer receive the best possible cancer journey.
Macmillan wishes to use learning from the Cancer Reform Strategy, national survivorship pilots and its own economic modelling to support PCTs to improve care within the current economic climate. Project support and “invest to save” funding will be available where appropriate.
Macmillan proposes that a typical project will involve:
- Direct access to the emerging evidence and thinking on cost effective delivery of cancer services
- Project support
- System wide change management support
- “Invest to save” funding from Macmillan
MacMillan Cancer Support is inviting PCT chief executives or whole health economies to apply to be part of the programme. You can find out more about the programme on this document.
