CCG managers discuss next steps

31/10/2011
Senior managers working in clinical commissioning groups (CCG) came together last week to share ideas and hear the latest policy updates at an NHS Confederation meeting about CCG development.

GP taking blood pressureDelegates discussed the development of commissioning support organisations, the need for successful public and clinical engagement in the work of CCGs and governance challenges, including establishing the roles of the CCG chair and accountable officer.

Further considerations

Further issues explored included:

  • the need to separate the roles played up to now by PCTs in providing support for commissioning and provision
  • the establishment of successful relationships between CCGs and PCT clusters
  • the need to create a system of shared incentives.
