Coalition Government publishes plans for adult social care

24/11/2010
The Coalition Government published its plans for adult social care entitled ‘A Vision for Adult Social Care: Capable Communities and Active Citizen’.

The report sets out the seven principles which will guide their vision, prevention, personalisation, partnership, plurality, protection, productivity and people

Under these proposals Councils will be required to provide a personal budget for everyone who is eligible by 2013.

The Spending Review provided social care with a stable financial base over the next four years. It provides additional funding of £2bn by 2014/15: £1 billion through the NHS and £1 billion in grant funding to local government.

This settlement gives councils a platform for reform and improvement – including redesign of services. The vision is the first step towards setting out a long-term solution to the funding and delivery of care and support.
