The CQC is now consulting on its guidance for providers setting out what they must do to meet the registration requirements. This provides detailed guidance for providers about what they must do to achieve CQC registration, and the information they will need to demonstrate compliance with the registration requirements.
The consultation runs until 24 August 2009, and the full consultation document can be found on the CQC website.
The draft guidance is detailed and includes:
- Generic guidance for all regulated services across health and adult social care
- Specific guidance for particular types of service in addition to the generic guidance.
The NHS Confederation has produced a summary of the report, which includes the key points of the consultation to assist members in this process and to help them prepare for registration. The final version of the compliance guidance will be published in December 2009.
The NHS Confederation will be making a response based on member views, and we are especially keen that the views of mental health providers are represented. We would be particularly interested to hear your views on how the specific guidance about mental health and learning disability services would affect you . Please email Rebecca Cotton Policy Manager at rebecca.cotton@nhsconfed.org by 5 August.
