1 April 2009 marked the fifth anniversary of the first foundation trusts and was the first day that ambulance trusts could apply for foundation trust (FT) status. Ambulance services have started the FT application process - London Ambulance Service NHS Trust is currently consulting with the public on its proposals and North East Ambulance Service NHS Trust will start its formal public consultation on 5 June.
The Ambulance Service Network (ASN) is holding a dinner with Sir William Moyes, executive chairman of Monitor on 27 May for ambulance service chief executives and chairs to debate the key issues and challenges facing ambulance services.
