Information on opportunities to get involved in the work of the NHS European Office

The NHS European Office provides a range of opportunities for NHS organisations to learn more about EU affairs and to get involved in our work. In particular, we regularly seek input from NHS representatives to help us assess potential implications for the NHS of EU policy and legislation.

We rely on contributions from all parts of the NHS in order to develop our position papers and influence our lobbying strategies at European level and we are always keen to hear from NHS representatives who would like to be involved in our work. Please contact michael.wood@nhsconfed.org for more information.

EU bulletin

NHS European Office BulletinThe NHS European Office produces a bi-monthly email bulletin highlighting our work and providing the latest news from the EU institutions on developments that are relevant to the NHS.

If you are interested in receiving our bulletin, please subscribe online at the newsletters page, or for further information contact: michael.wood@nhsconfed.org.

Consultations

Comments boxAs part of our work to represent NHS views in Europe and to influence EU proposals in the interests of the NHS, the NHS European Office regularly responds to EU consultations on the basis of input received from the NHS.

Events and visits

diaryThe NHS European Office regularly participates in seminars and events both in the UK and in Brussels. The team are able to visit NHS organisations and give tailored briefings on the impact of EU affairs on the NHS and on current relevant EU developments.

We also facilitate the participation of NHS representatives in relevant EU-related visits, conferences and events. Our events page highlights forthcoming events which may be of interest to NHS organisations and our previous events page highlights some examples of EU-related visits, conferences and events which NHS representatives have participated in.

Engaging with your regional Euro MP

The NHS European Office can help NHS organisations to organise contacts, meetings and visits with EU stakeholders. In particular, making contact with local 'Euro MPs' can be a powerful and effective way of communicating the potential impact of European developments on the NHS, as well as highlighting good local practice to EU decision-makers. To find out more about the role of a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) see our how the EU works page.
