Serving a remote rural community which is closely attached to the local hospital NHS Lincolnshire has has empowered and supported local clinicians to develop and implement a redesigned health economy centred around an integrated primary care-led hospital.

This study visit took place on Thursday 1 April 2010 at Louth Hospital, Lincolnshire, where delegates had the chance to hear from those leading and implementing the changes and included a tour of the hospital.
The session explored the lessons to draw from Lincolnshire and facilitated a discussion on the challenges for delegates’ home health economies.

What delegates thought
The study visit provided the opportunity for delegates to come together and learn about the redesigned health economy at Louth Hospital, explore change in a rural setting, get a clearer understanding of the Louth model and get an update of relevant issues and information.
94% of delegates rated the event good or very good with many delegates also stating that the event gave them a range of very practical ideas and approaches to whole system redesign as well as contacts and advice on how to progress service redesign issues.
The event was also regarded as a good networking opportunity with 93% of delegate making at least one new contact they intend to follow up.
